March News Update - Thursday, 26th March 2009

Posted by: Robert Bethell
A busy month during March has seen updates to a number of existing sites and new agreements being reached.
  • Last Minute Coach HolidaysAlong with a number of programming additions, we've given Last Minute Coach Holidays a new look front page - featuring news, featured holidays and a list of the week's most popular destinations. The front page also displays the logos of the numerous operators that Last Minute Coach Holidays have brought on board. This all helps freshen the site up from the perspective of the visitor and is also beneficial to search engine rankings.
  • Over at Harbour Guides we've implemented a new visitor email system - which already has over a thousand addresses thanks to the popularity of its regular monthly competitions. This system will provide a valuable tool for the Harbour Guides crew to contact their visitors and clients. In other news, the Harbour Guides crew are building up for expansion into Spain and Greece over the coming months.
  • The build of the new Pagoda Furniture website has been completed - and will be launching in the coming weeks (once their photography team manage to beat the British weather in order to get those last few outdoor shots of their fantastic looking furniture!).
  • Entrepreneur Mark Mills continues to provide weekly updates on his Business Speaker website. We have also released the first draft of his book, available for download. It details his entry into the world of business; from selling broken biscuits at school to being the CEO of an AIM listed company valued at £170 million. See Natural Born Entrepreneur for more details on the book and how to purchase it.
  • Updates have taken place to website of Lytham shopping arcade Clifton Walk, Shops Lytham. They have recently expanded their property portfolio to include Pleasant Street Parade, which currently has one Shop To Let in Lytham.
  • I have provided front end optimization and database optimization services to high traffic music website Punktastic over the past few weeks. Their site was starting to run very slowly due to excessive traffic (8,000 plus visitors a day) - using front end optimization and database optimization techniques I was able to reduce the load time of all pages by up to 75% - a massive plus for their visitors and a huge worry off their minds! It goes to show that with the right programming and speed tweaks you don't have to put busy sites on expensive multiple server setups.
  • E-Commerce client Gun Dog Kit continues to go from strength to strength; they have now introduced their very own brand of clothing and have been featured in the April edition of popular magazine Sporting Gun.
  • A basic e-commerce website implemented recently for David Halsall International has already begun to make sales - and considering the product is Water Slides it's very promising given we're still in March! The site has already achieved a number one ranking on the Yahoo Search Engine and is now climbing up the Google rankings.
  • Finally, agreements have been reached with a prominent Manchester based media firm and a large Lancashire based company to provide outsourcing and security auditing/consultation services respectively.
